As I look back on my first months as Executive Director of the Jersey City Arts Council, I am filled with both gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility. When I first stepped into this role, I felt something unmistakable in Jersey City’s arts community—a mix of curiosity, urgency, and possibility. Every week, I meet artists, leaders, and partners whose creativity fuels this city. Their commitment is powerful—and it deserves an arts council that is just as bold. Our city is changing quickly. 

But even in the midst of change, one truth remains: the arts are at the heart of the city.

As the landscape evolves, so must the Jersey City Arts Council. And this year, more than ever, we need you with us.

In 2026, JCAC will celebrate its 10th Anniversary—ten years of championing artists, advocating for arts investment, and ensuring that creativity has a home in our city. But anniversaries aren’t just milestones; they are mirrors. They show us where we’ve been, and they ask us who we want to become. This moment invites us not only to reflect on a decade of advocacy and community-building, but to look forward—to envision what the next ten years can be. 

Over the coming year, JCAC is expanding its work in meaningful and tangible ways:

• Elevating new programs to bring partners together for meaningful dialogue.

• Strengthening our advocacy efforts on behalf of arts organizations across the city. 

• Amplifying our artist services.

• Promoting the vibrancy of local arts activities.

• Building the internal capacity needed to deliver on our mission.

These are not abstract goals. They are urgent responses to what we are hearing from the community. They are more than programs; they are investments in the creative ecosystem that makes Jersey City a place where art is valued.

And they are only possible with you. I invite you to give today.
