JCAC Launches the Individual Artist Fellowship

The Jersey City Arts Council (JCAC) is excited to announce the launch of the Individual Artist Fellowship program. The program plans to award up to 20 artists with an unrestricted grant to support and supplement their creative output over the year. Awards will recognize exceptional creative work and the impact and engagement of the artist within the local community.

“These grants are an important way to demonstrate the value of supporting the artists making Jersey City such a vibrant, creative community,” said MacAdam Smith, Interim Executive Director of JCAC. “They will also create more public arts opportunities for all residents and build deeper connections between artists and other community groups. This is a real investment in our arts community, one we’ve been fighting for since the arts council’s founding. We want to thank the City and the Arts & Culture Trust Fund Committee for their support in making this program happen.”

Artists working in any discipline are invited to apply, but all applications must include a Direct Public Benefit that will provide some kind of free arts programming for the public. Applicants must be residents of Jersey City, 18 years or older. Full application guidelines and requirements can be found here: Individual Artist Fellowship guidelines and application. Applications will be reviewed by a Fellowship Review Panel, representing a diverse group of artists, arts professionals, and community activists.

The Individual Artist Fellowship is supported by theJersey City Arts & Culture Trust Fund. Additional grants for arts organizations and groups are available through the trust. Organizational grant categories include Program Grants, Arts Education Grants, and General Operating Support. More info can be found here.
